Surveys were constructed to gain insights, as a designer it's important to understand current market products, areas of improvement and the current users problems through an unbiased approach. I find annoymous surveying to be very beneficial, cheap, quick and easy to reach a range of audience.
To understand current products markets I conducted an ideation session, writing down a few key takeaways from my research. Throughout this phase I wanted to look at it through the users perspective.
To ensure this would be a viable product on the market. In depth research such as interviews were conducted to gain a better perspective on the area.
Participant : A young food enthusiast working in Dublin City centre.
The user insisted on the app to have easy steps on finding the location of the truck/vendors. Pre order feature for collection is a desirable option for this user as of their busy schedule.
A detailed menu, including ingredients, nutritional content, and allergen warnings. Incorporating comprehensive dietary filters and clear allergen information can make the app more appealing to users with specific health needs.
Participant : A coffee and bakery truck owner
Food truck owners struggle to communicate with customers about changes in location or menu offerings. A communication feature or notification system could allow owners to update directly to users.
Users, especially professionals on tight schedules, value the ability to order ahead and pick up their food without waiting in line. Integrating a pre-order feature could enhance user experience.
Both users and owners are interested in loyalty features A built-in rewards system could drive user engagement and provide food trucks with a tool to retain customers.
Participant : A personal trainer who is conscious of dietary requirements.
The participant mentioned inconsistent or incorrect information on existing platforms. The app should ensure that information such as truck locations and operating hours, in this case, menu items and nutrienal information.
They insisted on how they feel conscious on food ordering, on how accurate the information displayed in current food apps. "I'm always a bit hesitant because I’m not sure how accurate the information is. If the app can verify this, that would make a big difference."
